HE/ESF Defaults Screen
The HE/ESF Defaults screen (accessed from the HE/ESF Defaults tab in the left-hand pane) provides the default values for the learner’s HE record up to and including the 2017/18 funding year.
Note: The text 'Learner HE Defaults values are no longer used for ILR returns for 2018/19 onwards. Please use the fields in the Learner and Enrolment details screens.' is displayed at the top of the HE/ESF Defaults tab as the fields on this tab are redundant from funding year 2018/19.
The fields in the following table are fields that are still applicable. Any other fields displayed on this screen are redundant fields.

| Socio-Econ Indicator | To identify the socio-economic classification of learners participating in HE. | SEC |

| Special Fee Indicator | Records any special or non-standard fees. | SPECFEE |
| Domicile | This field holds the country code of the student's permanent or home address prior to entry to the course. It is not necessarily the correspondence address of the student. | DOMICILE |
| Student Support Number | This field holds the Student Support Number assigned by Student Support Award Authorities (Northern Ireland Library Boards, Welsh Local Authorities, Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) and Student Loans Company (SLC)). It is the student identifier that is used in student finance communications between the Student Support Award Authorities, institutions and SLC. | SSN |
| Student Instance Ident | An identification of the basic unit of 'a coherent engagement with the provider, aiming towards the award of a qualification(s) or credit' which is described in the HIN guidance section of HESA website. | NUMHUS |
